var was launched with support from the National Lottery.

This support enabled us to become a public organisation accessible to groups and individuals wanting to publish their creative work on the internet, and to develop related skills.

var operates as a non-profit organisation, and can very nearly maintain itself on thin air if necessary, so any funding that var receives is normally used to enable specific projects such as commissions.

It probably goes without saying that var is always interested in ideas that could generate additional means of support, and offers of help. However we'll say it again anyway!
