Aims and objectives
var wishes to present as diverse a view of contemporary society as it can.
Our policy is to publish entirely original material of the highest possible standard in the fields of literature, visual art, journalism and, where practical, internet-based multimedia.
var is aimed specifically at readers and contributors over the age of sixteen.
The function of the editors
Control of var rests with its 'Joint Editors'
Collectively, var's editors have five main tasks:
- To find contributors from a wide cross section of society.
- To assess proposals and decide which submitted material will be published in var.
- To provide or facilitate training or guidance for contributors where appropriate and practical.
- To physically maintain the var website.
- To raise the profile of var and increase its audience.
Copyright
Copyright of all published material will remain with the author(s), unless specific arrangements to the contrary are made in advance of publication.
var will not knowingly publish material whose copyright is not owned by the named author(s) unless written permission for such use has been obtained in advance.
What we won't publish
We won't publish:
Material that would be illegal under UK law.
Material that could in our judgement damage the general reputation or objectives of var.
Material that contravenes the regulations of any organisation that hosts all or part of var.
